The Letter
The Letter was more than just a sign, it was the beginning of something bigger than both of them. The Letter was a door, from no family to a brother, and to happiness for each. Benji got family, as did Elijah, but he finally got closure on what happened to his father, Amichai. It brought the two together and tied them together, because they would be the cause of great things to come. And neither would regret it, because they had the other at their side. If it wasn't physically them it was spiritually.
The Blow Dart
The blow dart was many things for many people. For Hector, it was fame. He kidnapped Elijah to an Asylum and told a lie to the public and got rich and famous off of it. He didn't care if Elijah got seriously hurt, as long as he was intact he was okay with the Priest's state. For the public, it was disappointment, anger, and hope. They were disappointed that Elijah had lied to him, after seeming to be such a nice guy! Some were angry that he would do such a thing, and were glad that Hector took him off the streets. And the ones with hope were the sickly ones hoping that he hadn't lied as Hector said, willing that they can, too, be given a miracle. For Benji, it was heartbreak and anger. His little brother was in an Asylum where he didn't belong, and he couldn't help him. And he was angry at Hector for telling lies, to which really got on his nerves. For Cari it was finding a new friend and falling in love, and she knows he can’t return the affections fully because of his vows as a priest. Although she knows he loves her back just the same. And lastly, for Elijah it was a door to new trial as he helped the people in the Asylum who were in desperate need of help, because they certainly weren't getting it there.
The Newspaper
The newspaper was the final form of Benji’s hard work, he had finally succeeded in getting Elijah the recognition he needed, to be a Saint for the things he’s done. It showed that he still cared for his brother as though he were still alive. It was what brought them together on Benji’s last leg, so that way he could pass away beside his brother, like Elijah had thirty years before. It symbolized the brotherly love between the two, and the love Elijah had for the children of the world. In a sense between the two, it showed they were brothers because it’s what had brought them together, like a letter, like how their whole adventure had started.
